How to Spend Time with God
Why do we neglect spending time with God? Are you tired? Don’t understand what you are reading? Can’t find a fun way to spend time with him? Spending time with God doesn’t have to be this way. God wants us to find joy in our time with him. But not pursuing God isn’t a test grade on the line, it affects our eternity. Spending time with God builds a relationship with God. We will spend time on what we value so let’s let the most important thing , Jesus, become what we value the most as we spend time with him this year!
Prayer:
God doesn’t say spending time with him has to look like one certain thing or done one certain way. God's instruction in John 15:5 is to simply abide in him. Prayer is one way we can do that. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Worship:
God doesn’t say spending time with him has to look like one certain thing or done one certain way. God's instruction in John 15:5 is to simply abide in him. Worship is one way we can do that. Psalm 100:2 says, “Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful song.” Worship is simply honoring God. You can do this through words, through song, or through enjoying what he has created with friends or alone in nature.
The Word:
God doesn’t say spending time with him has to look like one certain thing or done one certain way. God's instruction in John 15:5 is to simply abide in him. Reading His word is one way we can do that. Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing and hearing through the Word of Christ.” God’s word is a lamp unto our feet that lights the path of life that we walk each day.
*Tip for when you read the Bible. Pick a verse, it can be one verse or 10. Write down whatever comes to mind when you read it, what it means to you, or how it applies to your life.
