Day 4: Worthy of Worship

“Yours O Lord is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours. O Lord this is your Kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)

Worthy of worship. One of my personal goals of 2023 is to lift up God’s name above all. Worship is when we magnify who God is. The definition of worship says to express reverence and adoration. That phrase means to show deep love and respect to someone or something. When we worship God it takes us to a place where we are honoring him, showing love and respect from the deepest place in our hearts. One of my favorite things about church is worship. Worship is such a humbling act because it reminds you of how mighty God is and how small we are but that he chose us. I love how this verse names things that belong to God because it reveals how worthy he is of our worship. It says Yours God is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, the majesty, everything in heaven, everything on earth, wealth and honor comes from you, power and might are in your hand, people are made great and people are given strength because of you. What powerful words that describe exactly why God is worthy of worship. All things begin and end in him and every good thing was created by him. There is nothing that we can give to God that is worthy of who he is but worship is the closest thing we can give. God deserves every ounce of our being, every word, action, and response to be honorable to him. Although it is impossible to live the perfect life that honors him we can give him our worship. Worship is our response. It can look like singing, it can look like dancing, worship can be you giving your attention to God, being obedient to God or giving credit to him. As you begin the new year there is nothing more meaningful or timely than giving your worship to God.

Write down 3 words that describe who God is.

What can worship look like for you?

Hey Jesus, I am amazed by who you are. All things begin and end in you. You are mighty and worthy of all worship. Lord help me to give you the highest place in my heart. Teach me to worship you and to see you for your greatness. As I live my life would it be a light that reflects your glory.
