How to have Vision for 2024

Have you found yourself wanting to set goals for 2024 but not really knowing where to start? Maybe you see people with their word for the year and wonder how they even got a word for the year and what that even means.

I sat in my internship office at the beginning of 2023 last year and the CEO of the company set aside a special day where he allowed us to dream and set goals for the year. I never realized how badly I needed that moment to review all that God has done in the previous year and dream for the present year. Many times there are things in life that we would love to do if only we could find time to do them, I believe dreaming is one of those things.

When we make the time to write down what God is saying, it refreshes our soul and fuels our faith. Since we didn't have a January Social we still didn’t want to miss a month of hangs. As I thought about what we could do, God gave me the idea of a Vision Workshop. We had our first night of seeking God, writing down dreams, goals, and creating practical ways to pursue them. It was a night where our faith was fueled to believe in what God desires to do in our lives this year.

If you were able to be there then you already know!! But if not I wanted to give you the opportunity to learn how to have a vision for your 2024. I hope the following tips make a big dream practical and become a reality for you this year!

How to have Vision for 2024

Ask God what His vision for your year is

John 10:14 says “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” I chose this verse because one of the biggest cries of our generation is that we would hear the voice of God. I often second guess whether I heard God speak or whether it was me speaking, thinking, hearing. This verse is confident that as God is our shepherd, we hear his voice. We know God, we have spent time with him, and we know what his voice sounds like. It can be easy to second guess the voice of God but when we are confident in the God we spend time with we can know that we really are hearing his voice.

Don’t underestimate what God is speaking to you

Even if your dream is crazy, the size of your dream reveals the size of your God

Find a scripture to encourage you when you forget

Psalm 119:105 says “your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” When the world gets dark and we can’t see our purpose, it is God’s word that shines a light on the path to remind us of where we are headed. Our scripture is our accountability. Put it on your mirror, make it your background, set it as a reminder. When we forget what our focus is, God’s word re-shifts it. The bible reminds us of God’s purpose, our purpose, and what God is doing in our year.

When the world gets dark and we forget our way, it is his word that lights our path

There will be a moment when we need to be remind of our why

Write down your goals for the new year

Jeremiah 30:2 says “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.”  There is power in writing things down. In fact, it takes faith to put a dream on paper. There is something about writing down words that creates accountability, forces focus, and creates a spark in your heart that fuels into a flame of a dream. When we write down our dreams, it helps us to have faith to believe in them too. Why is it so scary, maybe it’s because once the words are written as you look at the paper you are staring your dreams in the eyes. But writing brings faith and faith is what brings the miracle.

Writing down what God has spoken builds faith and builds confidence.

It takes faith to dream and what a powerful move to write it down

What are you believing for in 2024?
